Scott's Story...

Dr. Scott Dennstaedt has always had a love for aviation and weather. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Atmospheric Science from University of Maryland at College Park. Out of college was employed by the NWS as a research meteorologist and then received his Master’s degree in Computer Systems Management.
He stepped out of the weather business for about 15 years to pursue a career in software engineering. In the late 1990s, Scott left Northrop Grumman as a senior fellow engineer to earn his commercial pilot certificate and become a full-time flight instructor where he was able to marry up his meteorology background with his new love for aviation. In 2008, he founded AvWxWorkshops Inc. to teach general aviation pilots at all experience levels how to minimize their exposure to adverse weather. In early 2021 Scott launched his unique progressive web app, EZWxBrief. Visit ezwxbrief.com to try it free for 30 days.

Since the late 1990s Scott has written over 400 magazine articles focused on aviation and weather and he's a contributing editor for FLYING magazine. His new eBook, Weather Essentials for Pilots: The Skew-T Edition is the most comprehensive book on the market for pilots to learn how to utilize the Skew-T diagram. In addition to his writing, Scott is a nationally recognized aviation speaker. Scott grew up in the Baltimore area and he now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina where he earned his Ph.D. in Infrastructures & Environmental Systems from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC).
